Asylum Access respects the privacy of its donors, newsletter subscribers and website visitors. This policy applies to all information received by Asylum Access, both online and offline, on any Platform (“Platform,” includes asylumaccess.org and refugeeworkrights.org websites, social media, Salesforce, and Classy.org), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.
How we collect donor and visitor information
Visitors are not required to provide personal information to use most of the website’s features. Exceptions to this include: Donate and Email Newsletter Sign Up features.
We receive and store any and all information that individuals enter on our Platforms or provide to us by any other form of communication, including, but not limited to: electronic mail, regular mail, phone calls, and donation. Types of information can include first and last name, email address, phone number, street address, and company affiliation.
We do collect properly anonymized donor and visitor information on our Platforms using Google Analytics. This data is used to improve promotional and fundraising activities and for general insights about how users experience our websites. Anonymized data is aggregate user data that is not combined with individual user data, so personal information remains anonymous and confidential.
For more information about how Google uses information from sites like ours, click here. To prevent your anonymized information from being used by Google Analytics, you may toggle the “Do Not Track” (DNT) option in your browser and install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
If you would like to review the information that Asylum Access has collected on you, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can contact us to request this information, unsubscribe from our mailing list, or make corrections to collected personal data.
How we use and secure donor and visitor information
Asylum Access will not share or sell the personal information of our donors, subscribers or website visitors with anyone else or send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. We will only share an individual’s personal information if they have given us specific permission to do so.
When personal information is requested through donations or newsletter sign-ups, it will only be used to:
- Distribute receipts for donations
- Inform donors and subscribers about Asylum Access’ work, and upcoming fundraising and other activities
- Internal analysis and record keeping
- Reporting to relevant government agencies (for reporting purposes and not for public inspection), and
- Contact donors and subscribers about changes to policies.
Protecting your credit card information is important to us. Asylum Access’ online donation site (Classy.org) and payment processor (Stripe.com) have security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of credit card information. We do not store credit card information on any Asylum Access servers.
Asylum Access believes every measure of precaution should be taken to protect children online and complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Our Platforms are directed to general audiences, and we do not knowingly ask children for any information. Visitors who are children should ask their parent or legal guardian for assistance when using our Platforms.
