Poon has a long-standing interest in human rights and social justice. When she found that Asylum Access has the goal to make human rights a reality for refugees, it strongly drew her to be part of the team.
Prior to Asylum Access, Poon previously worked in refugee camps along the Thai-Myanmar border for about a decade with various organizations such as, International Rescue Committee, UNHCR, and Save the Children, in the areas of resettlement, child protection, and children’s literacy.
Poon earned her Bachelor Degree in Social Science from Mahidol University International College, in Thailand, and later obtained her Master of International Law and Politics from University of Canterbury, in New Zealand.
Besides her working time, Poon is the mother of two cats and she is very passionate about history and learning it through her travel and photography.
