Afghanistan Emergency – How you can help

If you wish to help people at risk in Afghanistan

We have prepared a list of resources and contact organizations in English and Farsi/Dari for people at risk in Afghanistan. Please forward this list to any person or organization that may benefit from it.

Here are some actions you can take in support of Afghan communities:

  • Donate to organizations helping Afghans find safety. Asylum Access has compiled a non-exhaustive list of organizations working on this issue. We will be updating this list over the next few weeks.

If you’re located in the United States, here is some additional actions you can take:

  • Write to the US President and Congress. Click here to contact respective offices and express your support for bringing Afghans to safety. Specifically ask to increase the resettlement of Afghans to the US.
  • Support Afghans in the United States. When Afghan refugees arrive in the US, organizations may recruit volunteers to assist refugees as they adjust to life in the US. This includes helping refugees, along with their families, find housing, secure employment, etc. It also includes helping purchase household items for newly-arrived families. Enter your zip code on this page and find volunteer opportunities near you.

If you’re located outside of the United States, you can also:

  • Contact your government representatives to demand that your country provides a safe haven for Afghan individuals and families fleeing persecution.
  • Contact the your national refugee council to see what local volunteering opportunities are available to welcome Afghan families into your community.
