Mexico has an obligation to protect Central American refugees.
People fleeing Honduras are not a “caravan,” says Asylum Access Mexico, a leading refugee human rights organization in the country. Rather, they are refugees: Forcibly displaced by violence, fleeing for their lives. Mexico should grant them legal recognition as refugees and guarantee protection against expulsion or forcible return, as required by international and Mexican law.
