Este es un momento histórico para México y para el movimiento de los derechos sexuales y reproductivos en el país. En México, la maternidad será deseada o no será 💚.
Durante varios años, nuestro país ha sido testigo de la creciente marea de movimientos antipatriarcales que, con ferocidad e inquebrantable determinación, han inundado las calles y conciencias. Hemos alzado nuestra voz en lo público y en lo privado, plantando nuestras demandas y y nos hemos pronunciado frente al gobierno defendiendo nuestro derecho a decidir.
En México, la lucha constante por forjar un lugar más seguro para las mujeres, las personas con capacidad de gestar y todas las disidencias no cesa, no se cansa y no se retira. Nos han intentado detener, han intentado marginarnos de la discusión política sobre nuestros propios cuerpos. Ante estos obstáculos persistentes impuestos por los sistemas opresores, ¿qué hemos hecho? Nos hemos organizado y apoyado mutuamente.
Tras la reciente victoria legal obtenida gracias al amparo presentado por GIRE, organización que defiende los derechos reproductivos de las personas, la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación (SCJN) ha despenalizado el aborto a nivel federal en todo el país. Esta histórica decisión establece que el sistema jurídico que penalizaba el aborto en el Código Penal Federal es inconstitucional, ya que violaba los derechos humanos de las mujeres y personas con capacidad de gestar. Ahora, las instituciones de salud pública federales, como el Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), el Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (ISSSTE) y Pemex, deben proporcionar el acceso al derecho de la interrupción legal del embarazo de forma gratuita. Además, garantiza que el personal médico no pueda ser criminalizado por brindar atención en estas circunstancias.
Las organizaciones que defendemos y luchamos por los derechos humanos celebramos cada batalla ganada, y cada paso hacia un mundo más seguro y justo. Expresamos nuestro reconocimiento y solidaridad con GIRE y todas las organizaciones, colectivas y personas que han dedicado su vida al activismo en defensa de los derechos reproductivos de las mujeres y personas gestantes.
Al ser una organización de defensa de los derechos humanos fundada y liderada principalmente por mujeres, el fallo de la Suprema Corte refuerza nuestra labor y reconoce lo que hemos afirmado durante mucho tiempo: los movimientos sociales y la garantía del cumplimiento de los derechos son más efectivos cuando están liderados por quienes comprenden de manera directa estas opresiones.
A todas las mujeres, personas de la comunidad LGBTTTIQ+ y aliades que viven en países que restringen sus derechos a la autonomía corporal y los derechos reproductivos y sexuales: queremos que sepan que no están soles. Les vemos y seguimos impulsando el movimiento para que nuestros derechos colectivos e individuales sean respetados y protegidos.
Hoy celebramos un paso importante hacia el aborto libre, legal y seguro para todas las mujeres y personas con capacidad de gestar. Estamos comprometides con la construcción de un mundo en el que todos los derechos sean una realidad para todas las personas.

For several years now, our country has been flooded by fierce and unstoppable waves of antipatriarchal movements. We have raised our voices in public and in private, taking this conversation to the streets and confronting the government, defending our right to choose.
In Mexico, the daily struggle to create a safer space for women, people with the physical ability to carry a child, and all dissident voices continues incessantly. They have tried to alienate and marginalize us from political discussions about our own bodies. In the face of these persistent challenges imposed by oppressive systems, what have we done? We have organized and supported each other.
Following the recent legal victory achieved through the amparo (writ of protection) filed by GIRE, a courageous organization defending the reproductive rights of individuals, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) has decriminalized abortion at the federal level throughout the country. This historic decision declares the legal system that penalized abortion in the Federal Penal Code unconstitutional, as it violated the human rights of women and individuals with the capacity to gestate. Consequently, federal public health institutions, such as the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), the Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), and Pemex, must now provide access to this right for free. Furthermore, it ensures that medical personnel cannot be criminally prosecuted for providing care under these circumstances.
We, the organizations advocating for human rights, celebrate every battle won and every step toward a safer and more just world. We extend our recognition and solidarity to GIRE and all organizations, collectives, and individuals who have dedicated their lives to activism defending the reproductive rights of women and other individuals who can get pregnant.
As a human rights organization founded and primarily led by women, this Supreme Court decision reaffirms our work and acknowledges what we have been claiming for a long time: social movements and the guarantee of rights are more successful when led by those who directly understand these oppressions.
To all women, members of the LGBTTTIQ+ community, and allies living in countries that restrict their rights to bodily autonomy and reproductive and sexual rights: we want you to know that you are not alone. We see you, and we continue to drive the movement to ensure that our collective and individual rights are respected and protected.
Today, we celebrate a significant step toward free, legal, and safe abortion for all women and individuals with the capacity to be pregnant. We are committed to building a world in which all rights become a reality for all people.
